Why learning a new language is so important?

I decided to write this article because in the world we live today, learning new skills is very important. When I got in secondary education English level increased a lot, specially comparing with elementary. It was difficult to understand so many words in another language. I had to adapt myself into school, but in some way it helped me to be a bilingual person.

I know that English is a universal language, and it’s necessary to live in our world. But isn’t just about getting more job opportunities, it is a complex process of learning more knowledge, new skills, etc. When you learn another language you are going to be able to understand things easily. There are other languages like: German, French, Italian, Spanish, and also ancient ones like Greek and Latin.

In my personal experience, learning a new language like English, helped me to research another documents and books very important for my career as a historian. A lot of history documents had been made in English. I also think is necessary to develop verbal skills. When you understand another language is very easy express ideas in a better way, because you dominate another kinds of expressions.

Understanding process isn´t easy, reading complex books or documents requires very good knowledge of grammar structures, vocabulary and logic. Is unbelievable how common people think a new language is just about memory. That’s not true. A good example of that is the reading. If you can speak a language, and you know how to read, that doesn’t mean that you are going to understand complex information.

Because there are a lot of complex concepts that requires time to understand. Now I want to get deep into the verbal skills. All languages require understanding of logic processes. If have the knowledge of many words, that doesn’t mean that you’re going to understand everything. There are other complex situations; you need to know how to use the words in certain occasions.

A lot of people decide to learn another language beside English. New different words force your mind to get more knowledge and have culture. In some careers like history or literature, it’s important to understand these idioms because a lot of ancient literature was written whit that words.

One interesting last thing is the status some people presumed in the past dominating languages. Since the ancient times, a new language is a way to show intellectual supremacy. High class society invest money to lean different languages plus English. That is because understand how important is to show culture, or a knowledge that is reserved just for them.

In my country learning English is a great business, for example some private schools demand high amounts of money to teach the language in a better way. In some others they teach German too, maybe they won’t use that information in practical life, but is a status privilege for a few students.

Most of the parents like to presume that their kids are learning a lot of things they don’t even understand. That’s why the schools ask too much money for that knowledge. The bad thing sometimes is when the results are not good enough, or maybe standards aren´t correct. Not all schools provide quality education in 

English although they ask too much money for the preparation.

The last idea I wanted to share is a little comment about how the Asians are improving learning English. Is unbelievable how this people understand in a better way compared with us the foreign languages. And one of the main reasons is the practical way of use it, also the perseverance and the will to do the things.
